Best of British Beer Club : October tasting notes & pub quiz

Lawrence Washington first discovered a passion for brewing in 1995, albeit at homebrew scale. He quickly learnt how to calculate his own recipes and use raw ingredients, refining his technique along the way. After years of training, planning and research, in 2005 Purple Moose Brewery was established in the historic harbour town of Porthmadog, nestled in the beautiful foothills of Snowdonia, North Wales.
Starting with a 10-barrel brewhouse and a weekly capacity of 16,000 pints, in 2013 we commissioned a brand new 40-barrel brewhouse, increasing our weekly capacity to over 57,000 pints.
Famous for our exceptional taste and quality, our beers have won over 100 major awards including Gold in category at the Champion Beer of Britain competition, numerous SIBA medals and the Best Welsh Speciality Beer

Our dedicated team put every effort into ensuring the highest quality and consistency in every brew. From stunningly refreshing pale ales and hoppy IPAs to deep and delicious dark bitter and stouts, our extensive range means there is the perfect pint for any taste and occasion.

Our customers mean everything to us and our scale of production has never outgrown our ability to ensure that every single brew tastes as deliciously fresh as the last. We’re proud of the reputation our beers have, helping to put our little part of North Wales on the map.
The beer we’ve decided to feature is Dark Side of the Moose, a deep copper coloured ale with no fewer than 13 CAMRA and 5 Great Taste Awards to its name.
